GSL girls roundup: G-Prep edges Shadle Park

Shadle Park had the ball in the waning seconds before Mary Hoffman got a steal to preserve Gonzaga Prep’s 65-63 win Saturday afternoon in a Greater Spokane League girls basketball game at G-Prep.

The Bullpups (11-1 overall, 9-1 league) trailed 35-34 at halftime, but G-Prep outscored the Highlanders (6-6, 5-5) 21-10 in the third.

Shadle trailed by as many as 11 points in the fourth before its rally fell short.

Sophomore Laura Stockton led the Bullpups with 18 points, six rebounds and five assists while Hannah Caudill had 14 points and Otiona Gildon had 11.

Kaycee Hert led Shadle with 17 points and Kendra Winchester and Morgan Grier had 13 each.

Grier hit two 3-pointers to fuel Shadle’s rally.

Mead 63, Central Valley 38: The Panthers (11-1, 9-1) started to pull away late in the first half against the visiting Bears (5-7, 3-7).

The Panthers outscored CV 28-9 in the third.

Delany Junkermier led four Panthers in double-figure scoring with 15 points and four assists. Sue Winger had 14 points, Ashlyn Lewey 13 and Jade Redmon 11 to go with eight assists and six rebounds. Morgan Douglass also had four assists and four steals.

Madison Hovren led CV with 19 points.

CV was playing without starters Victoria Lee-Nauta (concussion) and Molly Barnhart (knee).

University 55, Ferris 51: Freshman Brooke Bailey broke a 49-49 tie with a 3-pointer to lift the visiting Titans (7-5, 6-4) past the Saxons (8-4, 6-4).

The Titans took a 19-8 lead in the first quarter, but the Saxons fought back to tighten the game up late.

Bailey finished with a game-high 20 points and McKenzie Peterson had 11. Kayleigh Valley had eight rebounds.

Abby Liss and Brianna Bowton scored 12 points each to lead Ferris.

Mt. Spokane 71, Rogers 33: The Wildcats (7-5, 5-5) picked up the defensive pressure in the second half, taking advantage of several turnovers over the visiting Pirates (1-11, 0-10).

The Wildcats outscored Rogers 24-8 in the third quarter.

Brooke Reilly led Mt. Spokane with a game-high 15 points, Megan Ulias had 13 and Dallas Flager had 0.

Sarah Guertin led Rogers with 10 points.

Lewis and Clark 63, North Central 35: The Tigers (6-6, 6-4) broke open a close first half by outscoring the visiting Indians (1-11, 1-9) 24-5 in the third quarter.

Joelle Tampien led the Tigers with 15 points, nine coming in the third, and Taylor Howlett had 12.

Brianna King led NC with 11.
