Middle school in Newport evacuated after bomb threat

Sadie Halstead Middle School in Newport was evacuated Friday at 12:30 p.m. after a bomb threat was found written on a bathroom wall. Students were transported to other school district facilities while Pend Oreille County Sheriff’s deputies searched the building with the aid of a bomb-sniffing K9. No device was found. Newport School District officials sent letters home with students and classes will resume on Monday. The investigation will continue.
