Support schools of choice

The Coeur d’Alene School District has implemented a cutting-edge approach to education that is recognized nationwide as preferred by parents and students. We have schools of choice: Sorensen Magnet School of Arts and Humanities; Ramsey Magnet School of Science; Hayden Meadows International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program; Lakes Magnet School of Science, Health, and Art; Coeur d’Alene High School Advanced Placement program; and Project/Bridge Academy Alternative High School.

All of these programs were approved by members of the elected Coeur d’Alene school board who felt these programs gave parents and students options.

Our current school board has removed one choice. They eliminated the Lake City High School International Baccalaureate Diploma Program during their July board meeting. Three of these members were recently appointed, not elected by taxpayers. Schools of choice give you the power to put your child in a magnet school when space is available, and the opportunity to move to another school if you do not agree with the educational opportunities in your school zone.

If you believe in choice and approve of the education your child’s school provides, let the board know that you will not support eliminating any options available for your child’s future education.
