Cougs set aside lopsided loss to focus on USC

LOS ANGELES – Washington State journeyed to the Galen Center on Friday morning for a 9:30 practice, the memory of the previous night’s 78-46 loss to UCLA no doubt still fresh in the Cougars’ minds.

Not for long, though.

“We’ve just got to focus our mind-set toward the next game,” WSU junior forward Brock Motum said.

The Cougars (14-15, 6-11 Pac-12) finish the regular season with a 3 p.m. game today at USC (6-24, 1-16), the Pac-12’s worst team. The Trojans lost 80-58 to Washington on Thursday and fell 60-53 to WSU in Pullman earlier this year.

A win would allow WSU to regain some momentum as it prepares for next week’s Pac-12 tournament.

“It’s senior night,” coach Ken Bone said. “It’s their last game in the Galen Center. Most of the time, when it’s senior night, those teams come together and play really well. Most of the time. So I’m sure we’ll get their best shot, and hopefully they get ours.”
