Post Falls boys move into tie for second

Luke Thoreson led three players in double figures with 14 points as Post Falls moved into a tie for second place in the Inland Empire 5A League with a 55-41 win over Lake City on Tuesday night in Post Falls.

Marcus Colbert had 13 points and Michael Hillman added 10 for Post Falls (15-2, 3-2). The Timberwolves (9-7, 3-2) got 14 points from Kyle Guice and 12 points from Luke Ness.

In their first matchup on Jan. 10, the Timberwolves beat the Trojans 39-36 – Post Falls’ first loss of the season.

Post Falls hosts Coeur d’Alene on Feb. 8 and can clinch a share of the league title with a win.

Great Northern League

West Valley 57, Cheney 46: The Eagles (16-1, 8-1) opened up a 10-point lead in the second quarter and went on to beat the visiting Blackhawks (7-9, 2-6). Jordan Gassman had 21 points and Brandon Davis added 15 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Cheney’s Eric Igbinoba and C.J. Skillingstad combined for 21 points.

Pullman 65, Deer Park 44: Corey Langerveld scored 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting and added seven rebounds and five blocks as the Greyhounds (15-2, 8-1) toppled the visiting Stags (8-10, 4-6). Austin Drake added 20 points, including four 3s, for Pullman. Deer Park was led by Uconn Peone’s 19 points.

Medical Lake 37, East Valley 33: Kendyl Dunn scored 17 points as the Cardinals (7-10, 4-5) stormed back in the fourth quarter and beat the visiting Knights (7-10, 1-8). Medical Lake outscored East Valley 17-9 in the fourth. James Brown led the Knights with 13 points.

Bi-County 2B League

Northwest Christian 64, St. George’s 50: Kwinn Hanson scored 14 of his game-high 32 points in the fourth quarter and added 10 rebounds to lead the Crusaders (18-0, 14-0) to a win over the host Dragons (10-8, 8-6). Dakota Winward added 12 points for Northwest Christian. Will Tender, Mark Kenney and Erik Muelheims combined for 44 of St. George’s 50 points.

Colfax 58, Kettle Falls 38: Kyle Johnson scored 25 points and Brandon Gfeller added 21 points and 10 rebounds as Colfax (13-4, 11-2) took control in the first half and coasted to a win at Kettle Falls (2-16, 0-14). Colfax outscored Kettle Falls 16-4 in the first quarter and led by 17 points at the half. Luke Beardslee led Kettle Falls with 15 points.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 69, Springdale 36: Dylan Hartz scored 19 points and handed out seven assists as the Broncos (9-9, 6-8) whipped the visiting Chargers (4-14, 2-12). Connor O’Neill added 15 points and four steals for Lind-Ritzville/Sprague. Springdale was led by Isaiah Wynecoop’s 12 points.

Panorama tournament

Wellpinit 77, Selkirk 40: A.J. Kieffer scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Redskins (16-5) routed the visiting Rangers (9-12). Matt Emerson led Selkirk with 16 points. Wellpinit will play Northport on Saturday at Kettle Falls to determine the first and second seeds to the district tournament. Prior to that game, Selkirk will play Cusick for the third and fourth seeds.

Northport 52, Cusick 46: David Higgins had 19 points, six steals and six rebounds as the Mustangs (17-3) rallied in the second half and beat the visiting Panthers (9-11). Dylan Masters and Frederik Verhaeghe added 11 points apiece for Northport, which trailed by eight points at the half. Cusick was led by Alec Bluff’s 16 points.

Southeast 1B League

Pomeroy 80, Rosalia 76 (2OT): Riley Bott scored 13 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter and two overtime periods and the Pirates (8-9, 6-6) edged the host Spartans (9-9, 6-6). Mitch Ruchert tallied a team-high 24 points for Pomeroy, which opened the second overtime on a 5-0 run. Craig Nelson led Rosalia with 21 points and Damian Loucks and David Littleton added 10 points each.

St. John-Endicott 67, Garfield-Palouse 48: Cole McCanna scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Dakota White added 15 points as the Eagles (12-5, 11-1) routed the host Vikings (5-11, 5-7). Jesse Lopez led Garfield-Palouse with 16 points.

Central Washington 2B

Lake Roosevelt 79, Brewster 57: Ty Egbert scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Raiders beat the host Bears. Keith Rosenbaum had 15 points and Kramer Carlson added 12 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for Lake Roosevelt.

Nonleague

Coeur d’Alene 59, Moscow 44: Deon Watson scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Vikings (12-4) past the visiting Bears (7-9). Joe Roletto added nine points for Coeur d’Alene, which led 32-17 at halftime. Lane Brooks led Moscow with 11 points.

Davenport 56, Almira/Coulee-Hartline 38: Wyatt Evers scored eight of his team-high 19 points in the first quarter as the Gorillas (12-5) beat the visiting Warriors (14-5). Cole Evers added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Davenport. Almira/Coulee-Hartline, which was without Thunder Wellhausen because of a sprained ankle, got 21 points from Derek Isaak.

Liberty 73, Wilbur-Creston 36: Match Burnham led four players in double figures with 16 points as the Lancers (7-10) whipped the host Wildcats (5-13). Dylan Salsbury had 14 points and Ryan Thayer and Zack Kunkel each added 13 for Liberty, which forced 22 Wilbur-Creston turnovers. The Wildcats’ Hayden Herdrick and Nick Densley scored 22 points apiece.

Valley Christian 55, Coeur d’Alene Charter 45: Craver Small scored 15 points and Kolby Blew added 11 as Valley Christian (17-1) beat host Coeur d’Alene Charter (8-7). Bryan Smith led Coeur d’Alene Charter with 19 points.

Logos 70, Lakeside 49: Jed Whittling scored 26 points and Josiah Rosendahl added 20 as Logos routed the host Knights (9-5) in Plummer. Lamont Higgins had 14 points and seven rebounds and Brandon Smith added 10 points for Lakeside.
