Camels enter Kennel tonight
Men’s hoops: Gonzaga entertains Campbell University tonight at 6 at the McCarthey Athletic Center.
The Camels (3-7) were preseason Big South Conference North Division favorites. Senior guard Darren White (21.9 ppg) has missed the last three games with a hand injury. The visitors from Buies Creek, N.C., finished 17-15 last season.
“Hopefully we’ll have a mature approach and it would be great to feel good about the game and our team going into the holidays,” said coach Mark Few, whose 14th-ranked Bulldogs (10-1) won’t play again until Baylor visits the MAC on Dec. 28.
Bison’s Bohl wins Robinson
Football: North Dakota State University football coach Craig Bohl has been honored as the national coach of the year in the NCAA’s Football Championship Subdivision.
Bohl was awarded the Eddie Robinson Award on Monday night during a ceremony in Philadelphia.
“This is great recognition for our program. Anyone who understands college football knows the head coach really doesn’t have a lot to do with it,” Bohl said.
Bohl has led the Bison (13-1) to a repeat appearance in the FCS title game. On Jan. 5 in Frisco, Texas, the Bison take on Sam Houston State (11-3) – the team they beat for the championship last year.
Bohl is in his 10th season at NDSU. He has an 88-32 record.
The Eddie Robinson Award is named for the legendary coach who won 408 games in 56 years at Grambling State.
