Whitworth rolls at Occidental

Dustin McConnell led four players in double figures with 20 points and Whitworth routed Occidental 95-66 in a nonconference basketball game Saturday in Los Angeles.

Robby Douglas had 15 points, Wade Gebbers added 11 and Zach Payne chipped in 10 for the Pirates (6-1), who led 48-27 at halftime.

Whitworth made 35 of 65 shots, including 21 of 28 from the free-throw line.

Deshun McCoy had 18 for Occidental (2-5).

CC Spokane 68, Lower Columbia 49: Brady Bagby and Kwinn Hanson scored 18 points apiece and the Sasquatch (7-4) stayed alive at the Bellevue Crossover tournament in Bellevue with a win over the Red Devils (2-6). The Sasquatch forced 23 turnovers and took advantage of a cold-shooting Red Devils squad in the first half.

Today, CCS will take on Mt. Hood (3-6), which advance with a win over Columbia Basin.

North Idaho 65, Eastern Utah 52: Keon Lewis led three players in double figures with 15 points and the Cardinals (14-1, 2-0) beat the Golden Eagles (9-4, 1-1) in a Scenic West Athletic Conference contest in Price, Utah.

James Webb III added 11 points and Mikey Hope chipped in 10 for NIC.
