Crusaders edge Colfax in title-game rematch
In a rematch of last year’s State 2B title game, it was Northwest Christian that came away with the win this time.
The host Crusaders fought back after falling behind early and beat the Colfax Bulldogs 63-60 Saturday night in a Northeast 2B League game.
Jonathan Morris and Nick Kiourkas scored 13 points apiece and Austin Friedly added 12 for Northwest Christian (5-1, 3-1). The Crusaders outscored Colfax 20-10 in the third quarter and protected their lead in the fourth.
Brandon Gfeller made 6 of 8 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 21 points for Colfax (5-3, 2-2).
St. George’s 80, Reardan 52: Erik Muelheims had 26 points, seven rebounds and six assists and Dexter Sienko had 23 points, nine rebounds, five blocks and five steals as the Dragons (8-0, 4-0) routed the host Indians (2-6, 1-3). Reardan’s Nick Brockman scored 25 points.
Lind-Ritzville/ Sprague 57, Springdale 28: Ryan Whitmore scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Cort Ruzicka added 10 points and seven boards as the Broncos (5-0, 4-0) routed the visiting Chargers (0-7, 0-4).
Liberty 65, Davenport 55: Match Burnham scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Lancers (4-3, 1-3) defeated the visiting Gorillas (5-3, 1-3). Ryan Thayer added 16 points and Aaron Jennen added 12 points and five rebounds.
Intermountain
Kellogg 54, Bonners Ferry 45: Logan Sauer scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Garret Wendt added 14 points as the Wildcats (5-2, 1-0) beat the visiting Badgers (3-4, 0-1).
Taylor Bircher added five points and seven boards for Kellogg.
Cameron Fitch and Cameron Woods combined for 25 points for Bonners Ferry.
Northeast A
Newport 54, Kettle Falls 43: Jeron Konkright made five 3-pointers and finished with 33 points as the Grizzlies (2-4, 1-1) overcame a slow start and beat the visiting Bulldogs (4-3, 0-2). Jared Schultz added 12 points and 15 rebounds for Newport, which trailed 10-4 after the first quarter.
Northeast 1B North
Northport 59, Curlew 51 (OT): The Mustangs (5-3, 3-2) scored the first six points in overtime and held on to beat the host Cougars (2-6, 0-3).
Jeremiah Johnson made four 3-pointers and finished with 30 points and 14 rebounds for Northport. Dylan Masters added 13 points for the Mustangs.
Coby Grumbach tallied a team-high 17 points for Curlew.
North Star
Kootenai 54, Clark Fork 31: Jake Pfeiffer made 9 of 13 shots and finished with 18 points and 15 rebounds as the Warriors (3-2, 1-0) routed the Wampus Cats (2-7, 1-1) in Harrison.
Boone Benson, Morgan Willms and Ben Whipple all added eight points for Kootenai, which outscored Clark Fork 34-15 in the second half.
Joey Hazinsky tallied a team-high 12 points for the Wampus Cats.
Southeast 1B
LaCrosse-Wash- tucna/Kahlotus 57, Touchet 39: Darcy Stamper scored 18 points and Justin Wargo added 10 as the Tigercats (5-0, 4-0) beat the visiting Indians (0-4, 0-4).
Conner McKeown had 13 points and Ruben Butler added 11 for Touchet.
Nonleague
East Valley 67, Sandpoint 38: James Brown scored 13 points and J.T. Phelan added 10 points, 15 rebounds and five assists as the Knights (3-3) routed the visiting Bulldogs (1-6).
Dan Keplin had 12 points and Scott Taylor and Graden George added 10 apiece for East Valley.
The Knights locked down defensively in the second quarter and outscored Sandpoint 15-2. Jeremiah Gagnon tallied a team-high 12 points for the Bulldogs.
Lakeland 49, Lewiston 42: Tyrel Derrick scored 19 points and handed out six assists as the Hawks (4-2) edged the Bengals (1-5) in Rathdrum.
Matt Horne added 10 points and Jack Millsap chipped in eight points and seven rebounds for Lakeland.
Rafa Hewett-Steiger made three 3-pointers and scored 17 points for Lewiston.
Colville 48, Chewelah 45: Jay Shoemaker scored 16 points and Matt Hubbard added 13 points and 12 rebounds as the Indians (3-3) came alive in the fourth quarter and beat the visiting Cougars (3-2). Chewelah took control in the third quarter, but was outscored 19-11 in the fourth. Deylin Peone scored 11 points and Caleb Wiebe and Ben Johnstone added 10 each for the Cougars.
Lakeside (WA) 67, Deer Park 56: Grant Perkins scored 13 points and Conner Moffatt and Dominque Watson added 12 apiece as the Eagles (2-4) beat the Stags (4-4) in Nine Mile Falls.
Deer Park rallied in the second half but couldn’t overcome a 14-point halftime deficit. Caleb Guske scored 18 points and Nathaniel Guske added 14 for the Stags.
Timberlake 53, St. Maries 48: Johnny Hayden made 13 of 19 free throws and finished with 18 points and Keegan Scott made four 3-pointers and scored 17 as the Tigers (4-1) edged the Lumberjacks (2-2) at Spirit Lake. Timberlake gained control in the third quarter, outscoring St. Maries 14-6.
Warren Joiner tallied a game-high 21 points for the Lumberjacks.
Lakeside (ID) 44, Deary 35: Jordan Meshell scored 16 points and the Knights (2-3) took control in the third quarter and held on to beat Deary in Plummer. Joe Brown added five points and six rebounds for Lakeside, which outscored Deary 17-11 in the third quarter.
Austin Rickert led Deary with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Coeur d’Alene Charter 78, St. Michael’s 53: Christian Pedersen scored 26 points and Bryan Smith added 20 as the Panthers (6-2) beat the host Warriors (0-5). Gabe Durazo posted a game-high 31 points for St. Michael’s, which committed 25 turnovers.
Cusick 60, Odessa-Harrington 53: Alec Bluff and Chad Browneagle both finished with 17 points and eight rebounds and the Panthers (7-0) pulled away late and beat the visiting Titans (4-2).
Ryan Sample made all eight of his free-throw attempts and finished with 15 points for Cusick, which outscored Odessa-Harrington 15-8 in the fourth quarter. Justin Hunt had 12 points for the Titans.
Wellpinit 75, Klickitat 27: A.J. Kieffer scored 22 points and Brodie Ford added 10 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals as the Redskins (4-1) dominated from the get-go in a rout over visiting Klickitat.
