A $250,000 arrest warrant has been issued for a registered sex offender accused of molesting a young girl.
Glenn E. Sapp, 51, is wanted on charges that include first-degree child rape after an acquaintance to whom he sold a computer discovered sexually explicit videos and photos of Sapp and the girl.
Spokane County sheriff’s detectives looked for Sapp Thursday night but couldn’t find him. Authorities are urging anyone with information on Sapp’s current location to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
Detectives began investigating Sapp Feb. 9 after a man said he’d bought a computer from Sapp after Sapp said he’d forgotten the password.
The man correctly guessed the password and accessed the operating system, where he found images and videos showing Sapp sexually abusing a young girl, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The man copied the images onto an external hard drive and returned the computer to Sapp, then called Child Protection Services. Sapp’s three children, ages 16 months to seven years old, were removed from the home on Feb. 16.
The man gave the hard drive to law enforcement, but the images can only be viewed using the original lap top. But on Sunday, a woman contacted police and said a camera memory card stolen from Sapp’s apartment in the 10100 block of East Main contained sexually explicit videos and pictures of at least four young girls. The woman said she’d gotten the card from a man who claimed to have stolen the camera from Sapp.
Family members of one of the victims identified the girl and Sapp, as well as Sapp’s female roommate. Police saw the card contained 223 photos and 49 videos of a sexually explicit nature. The girl’s mother told police her daughter frequently played with Sapp’s daughter and spent the night at the home at least four times.
Sapp is a level 1 sex offender after being convicted in Chelan County in 1999 of child pornography possession after he photographed children in his neighborhood.
Sapp is charged with first-degree child molestation, first-degree child rape, sexual exploitation of a minor and first-degree possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
The investigation is ongoing.
