Indians lose seventh consecutive game

YAKIMA – Jae Yun Kim stroked a two-out two-run double to cap a three-run eighth inning and the Yakima Bears rallied to beat the Spokane Indians 5-3 in Northwest League baseball action Tuesday night. The loss was the seventh straight for Spokane (7-14 second half). The Indians rallied to take a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth – scoring a run on a bases-loaded walk to Brett Nicholas. But the Bears roughed up Spokane reliever Matthew West (0-2) in their half of the inning. Jimmy Comerota and Garrett Weber opened with a back-to-back singles. Both runners moved up a base on a wild pitch to Justin Hilt, who later walked to load the bases. Tyler Bream singled in the tying run with one out and set up Kim’s double. Yakima took a 1-0 lead with an unearned run in the second inning against Indians starter Christopher Hanna. But Spokane came right back to score a pair of runs in the top of the third. Nick Vickerson and Roughned Odor reached on back-to-back singles. Edwin Garcia followed with a triple to make it 2-1. Yakima retied the game in the fifth when Kerry Jenkins doubled, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a Hanna wild pitch. Hanna worked five innings. He allowed five hits and one earned run. The three-game series ends tonight.
