New filing period for 29 county races

The Spokane County elections office will conduct a special three-day filing period next week for 29 positions that have no candidates.

Regardless of how many people seek a position, the one who gets the most votes in the Nov. 8 general election will win without a runoff.

Filings will be accepted online or at the election office, 1033 W. Gardner Ave., from 8:30 a.m. next Wednesday through 4 p.m. Aug. 19 for the following positions:

Fairfield Town Council, Position 3; Latah Town Council, Positions 1, 2, 3 and 5; Spangle Town Council, Positions 1, 3 and 5; Waverly Town Council, Positions 1, 3 and 5.

Also: Orchard Prairie School District board, Positions 4 and 5; Riverside School District, Director District 4; Fire District 2 board, Position 3; Fire District 12, Positions 1 and 3.

Also: Hangman Hills Water District board, Position 3; Irvin Water District, Position 2; Strathview Water District, Position 1; Vel-View Water District, Positions 1 and 2; Williams Lake Sewer District, Position 2.

Also: Elk Cemetery District board, Position 3; Moran Cemetery District, Position 3; Spangle Cemetery District, Position 2; Moran Cemetery District, Positions 1, 2 and 3.
