In brief: Chamber music performs Oct. 17

WEST HILLS – The Inland Northwest Chamber Music Collective will have its inaugural concert Oct. 17 at the Convent of the Sisters of the Holy Names, 2911 W. Fort Wright Drive, at 3:30 p.m.

The performance will include Mozart, by the Oboe Quartet; Walter Rabl, played by the Quartet, Op. 1 for violin, clarinet, cello and piano; and music by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor will be done in a Nonet in f minor.

Group members are comprised of local musicians. Some teach at universities and play with the Spokane Symphony.

The suggested donation at the door is $15 for adults and $10 for students.

The Inland Northwest Chamber Music Collective is sponsored by Holy Names Music Center.

Jr. Achievement plans bowl-a-thon

RIVERSIDE – Junior Achievement of the Inland Northwest is planning a Viva Las Vegas bowl-a-thon Nov. 5 at Lilac Lanes and Nov. 19 and 20 at Players and Spectators and is looking for teams and volunteers.

The fun-filled day of bowling, prizes and giveaways will help support local kids in the Junior Achievement programs, helping them learn to be financially literate, entrepreneurial and work force ready.
