An identifiable motif, a consistent product, and a loyal customer base has kept one local coffee stand company brewing success.

Wake Up Call – with its recognizable bright red British phone booth at the building’s exterior and its signature red couch in the lobby – opened another coffee stand in Spokane Valley on Nov. 5. The newest is along Sullivan Road within the Fred Meyer shopping plaza, about 1,100 square feet, and offers drive-through service and an indoor lobby with seating.

“It’s a location we wanted to lease for a long time,” said company Vice President Christopher Arkoosh, noting the property became available about a year ago.

The Sullivan location is the fourth coffee stand to open since 2004. Owners Christi and Jim Walsh, of Liberty Lake, opened their first stand with drive-through service only along Dishman-Mica Road.

Other locations are along Evergreen and Pines roads. Arkoosh said the company has no immediate plans to expand but is looking at opportunities throughout the area, including north Spokane, Coeur d’Alene and the Tri-Cities.

The phone booth and telephone logo have come to represent the connections established within a community, according to Wake Up Call’s website. And with that, Arkoosh credits the company’s consistent and competitive prices and its smooth-roasted coffees for creating a loyal customer base.

Mochas, he said, remain at the top of its most-popular-drink list. A 20-ounce mocha at Wake Up Call is $3.25.
