Boys basketball: WV edges Blackhawks
Brad Bagby scored 12 points, with the last two coming in the final minute, to lift West Valley (3-3, 1-0) to a 57-55 victory over Cheney (4-3, 0-1) in Great Northern League action Tuesday in Cheney.
After the Blackhawks took a 55-54 lead on a pair of free throws by Daniel Igboniba, Bagby scored the go-ahead bucket on a 15-foot jumper and Matt Roth added a free throw for the last of his 14 points.
Deer Park 60, Medical Lake 44: Colton Peone scored 19 points with eight assists, Jared Pyett added 10 points and 12 rebounds and the Stags (5-2, 1-0) built their lead to 26 points over the Cardinals (1-6, 0-1) with a strong start in the first and second quarters in Deer Park.

Lakeside 71, Kettle Falls 25: Kyle Powell led a balanced scoring attack by the Eagles (5-6, 1-0) with 13 points and the Bulldogs (1-8, 0-1) struggled to find their stride, scoring no more than nine points in any quarter in Kettle Falls.
Freeman 51, Newport 33: Peter Heinen went 6 of 9 from the floor for 12 points and the Scotties (8-3, 1-0) knocked off the Grizzlies (3-8, 0-1) with a 19-9 edge in the second quarter in Newport.

Inchelium 59, Columbia 26: Tony Louie notched a triple-double with 38 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds, leading the Hornets (6-3, 4-2) over the Lions (1-9, 1-5) in Inchelium.
Brandon Kohler led the Hornets with nine of their 24 steals as the Lions committed 32 turnovers.
Wellpinit 95, Springdale 51: Cody Flett scored 30 points, Kennedy Seyler added 20 and the Redskins (8-2, 5-0) jumped out early against the Chargers (7-5, 3-3) with a 24-point first quarter and never slowed in Wellpinit.
Bi-County 2B
Northwest Christian 58, Valley Christian 14: Cole Ramey had 19 points, Kwimm Hanson added 16 and the Crusaders (8-2, 4-0) cruised to a win over the Panthers (1-8, 0-4) holding them to seven points in each half at Valley Christian.
Colfax 59, Liberty 23: Dustin Huber’s double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds led the Bulldogs’ (4-4, 3-2) scoring effort and they held the Lancers (2-8, 0-4) to 10 points in the first half to build a 20-point lead by the start of the third quarter in Colfax.
Davenport 66, Lind-Ritzville 53: James Stevenson scored 17 points and helped keep the Gorillas (8-1, 4-1) out front against the host Broncos (8-1, 3-1). The Broncos cut the lead to five in the fourth quarter, led by Morgan Scharff’s 27 points, but could not take the lead.

Wilbur-Creston 46, Odessa 28: Logan Jannot scored a game-high 13 points and the Wildcats (8-2, 2-0) won the battle on the defensive boards to beat the Tigers (6-5, 0-2) in Odessa.
District 9 North
Tri-Cities Prep 62, Colton 57: Antonio Ledesma scored 19 points for the Jaguars and Daniel Faust scored five of his 17 points in overtime to lift the Jaguars (2-2, 2-1) over the Wildcats (3-4, 1-2) in Pasco. Josh Straughan finished with a game-high 24 points for the Wildcats.
Rosalia 54, Garfield-Palouse 24: Zach St. John went 3 of 4 from beyond the 3-point line and finished with 14 points, Jim Maley added 12 points and 10 rebounds and the visiting 1B Spartans (11-0 overall) knocked off the 2B Vikings (4-2) with a 26-11 edge in the first half.
LaCrosse-Washtucna 44, Pomeroy 40: Jeff Zimmer led all scorers with 16 points and Justin Wargo’s free throws in the final seconds for the 1B Tigercats (5-5 overall) sealed their win over the visiting 2B Pirates (4-4). Grant Jenkins scored eight of his 15 points for the Vikings in a 21-point third quarter.
North Star
Mullan 43, Clark Fork 42: Jamel Walton’s basket with 10 seconds remaining lifted the Tigers (5-5, 2-1) to a win against the Wampus Cats (7-5, 2-1) in Mullan. Walton finished with 23 points and Casey McKinnon added 17 for the Tigers.
Non-league
Lakeland 56, Lewiston 49: Joel Underdahl finished with 21 points and Daniel Whitesitt scored all nine of his points in the fourth quarter as the Hawks (5-3) held off the Bengals (6-3) in Rathdrum. Matthew Kalbfleisch had 18 points in the loss for the Bengals.
Post Falls 81, Pasco 55: Shawn Reid was 9-of-12 shooting and finished with 22 points as the Trojans (9-1) held off the Bulldogs despite 33 points from Jeramie Strecher, who hit five 3-pointers in Post Falls.
Kellogg 66, Kootenai 34: Cody Lewis scored 14 points, J.J. Bebout tallied 13, Tyler Morgan added 11 and the Wildcats’ (7-4) trio combined for 27 rebounds against the Warriors (4-5) in Kellogg.
Reardan 52, Sprague-Harrington 32: Grant Schultz scored just one point in the first half, but rallied to score 19 in the second to lead the Indians (5-5) over the Falcons (1-8) in Reardan. Chace Bell added 13 points for the Indians.
St. George’s 57, Tekoa-Oakesdale 26: The Dragons (7-4) built their lead to 22 after the first half with a 16-4 run in the second quarter against the Nighthawks (2-5) at St. George’s. Karl Muelheims scored 16 points to go with seven steals and the Dragons held the Nighthawks to 11-of-47 shooting from the floor.
Coeur d’Alene Charter 40, Timberlake 35: Wes Billingslea scored 10 points and the Panthers (7-4) held off the visiting Tigers (5-4) despite a 19-8 run by the Tigers in the fourth quarter. Derek Puckett scored 17 points for Timberlake.
