Shock sign ex-Coug Bumpus

Arena football: The Spokane Shock announced Friday the signing of former Washington State wide receiver Michael Bumpus.

Bumpus had 195 receptions for 2,022 yards and eight touchdowns during his Cougars career.

Bumpus (pictured above) signed a free-agent contract with the Seattle Seahawks in 2008 and spent the 2009 season with the BC Lions in the Canadian Football League.

The Shock also signed quarterback Andy Collins, who played 1 1/2 seasons with the Stockton Lightning.

Gregorak makes final two at Tech

College football: Montana Tech plans to interview two finalists next week as it selects a candidate to replace longtime football coach Bob Green.

A selection committee at the Butte school chose former University of Montana linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator Ty Gregorak and South Dakota defensive coordinator Chuck Morrell from among 100 applicants.

Gregorak will be interviewed Wednesday and Morrell Thursday, said athletic director Joe McClafferty.

Gregorak, who played at West Valley High, coached at Montana from 2003-09 as the Grizzlies advanced to three FCS national title games. He followed coach Bobby Hauck to UNLV, but was fired after being charged in May with stealing a gun and wallet from a strip club bouncer in Boulder, Colo. The charges were dropped in June and Gregorak coached tight ends at Central Washington this past season.

Gregorak played college football at Colorado.
