Gregoire discusses education in D.C.
SEATTLE – Washington state may need to make some changes in order to qualify for a piece of the $4 billion in federal education “Race to the Top” money that will be up for grabs this fall.
That’s the message Gov. Chris Gregoire is bringing back from a meeting Friday in Washington, D.C., with Education Secretary Arne Duncan and President Barack Obama.
She thinks the Washington Legislature may need to talk about teacher evaluation, teacher pay and what the state is doing for the struggling schools that are not getting better.
