Tigers 4, Cardinals 1: At Detroit, Curtis Granderson hit a go-ahead RBI double in a three-run eighth inning and the Tigers completed a three-game sweep of St. Louis.

Mets 7, Blue Jays 4: At Toronto, Jose Reyes had four hits for the third time in five games, including a leadoff homer, and Carlos Beltran hit a three-run shot to lead New York over the Blue Jays.

Braves 4, Devil Rays 1: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Chuck James took a one-hitter into the seventh inning of his first major league start, leading Atlanta past Tampa Bay.

Athletics 10, Giants 4: At San Francisco, Jay Payton went 4 for 5 with three RBIs and Esteban Loaiza pitched his first complete game in more than two years, leading Oakland past the Giants.

Rockies 3, Rangers 0: At Denver, Byung-Hyun Kim pitched seven shutout as Colorado topped Texas.

Royals 6, Brewers 0: At Kansas City, Mo., Mark Redman pitched seven sharp innings to win his fifth straight start and the Royals beat Milwaukee.

Reds 4, Indians 2: At Cleveland, Ken Griffey Jr. took over 11th place on the career home run list – passing Mike Schmidt with No. 549 – and Cincinnati topped the Indians.

Twins 8, Cubs 1: At Minneapolis, Brad Radke threw seven shutout innings to spoil Derrek Lee’s return from two months on the disabled list, and Minnesota capped a three-game sweep of Chicago.

Nationals 9, Orioles 5: At Baltimore, Livan Hernandez won for the first time in four starts, Royce Clayton hit a three-run double and Washington beat the Orioles to end a five-game skid.

Yankees 2-0, Marlins 1-5: At New York, Anibal Sanchez won his impressive major league debut with 5 2/3 shutout innings, Miguel Cabrera homered and Florida beat the Yankees to split a doubleheader. In the opener, Mike Mussina outpitched Dontrelle Willis and Johnny Damon homered to give New York the win.

Diamondbacks 9, Angels 7: At Phoenix, Orlando Hudson homered and drove in four runs to lead Arizona past Los Angeles.

Astros 10, White Sox 9 (13): At Chicago, Adam Everett led off the 13th inning with a triple and scored on a Willy Taveras single to lift Houston to a win over the White Sox.

Phillies vs. Red Sox, ppd.: At Boston, the game between Philadelphia and the Red Sox was rained out and will be made up today.
