Gar-Pal rallies for league title

Garfield-Palouse twice rallied from a game down to top LaCrosse-Washtucna 25-27, 29-27, 20-25, 25-23, 15-11 and win the Whitman County League volleyball tournament Monday at Rosalia.

With the win, the Vikings advance to become the league’s No. 1 seed to the District 9 tournament in Walla Walla, where they will take on Touchet, the Blue Mountain League’s No. 4 seed Thursday at 4 p.m.

LaCrosse-Washtucna, which had beaten Tekoa-Oakesdale 25-23, 23-25, 25-20, 25-6 earlier in the day, moves on as the No. 2 seed and will take on the Blue Mountain No. 3, DeSales, Thursday at 6 p.m.

The Nighthawks, despite the loss to L-W, are the Whitman County No. 3 seed and will take on Blue Mountain No. 2, Dayton, at 4 p.m.

Rosalia, which swept both Asotin and Colton earlier in the day, moves on to the District 9 tournament as the league’s No. 4 seed and will take on Pomeroy, the top seed from the Blue Mountain League, at 6 p.m.
