Veteran Police Officer Admits To Sex Crimes

A veteran King County police officer on Vashon Island faces more than five years in prison for incest and other sex crimes involving his 16-year-old stepdaughter.

William Arthur Erdt, 48, pleaded guilty Friday in King County Superior Court to incest, assault, unlawful imprisonment, sexual exploitation of a minor and communication with a minor for immoral purposes.

Prosecutors said they would recommend a 78-month sentence. The standard range under state sentencing guidelines is 67 to 89 months.

Erdt spent nearly 25 years with the force before being fired in January.
