No Need To Cry Over Lost Mitten; Send For Another

Shanna Southern Peterson Correspondent

“Poor little kitten. He’s lost his mitten and doesn’t know where to find it.”

This nursery rhyme is one of many songs children learn. Unfortunately, it depicts a scene that is all too familiar in homes across the country.

It’s early in the morning. You need to get to work and the kids need to get to school but your child can’t find one of her mittens. You search high and low, but to no avail.

As inevitable as runny noses, children lose their mittens. The odd thing about this situation is that seldom does anyone lose both mittens. It’s always just one.

You search the box in the back of the closet, but it’s not there. You look in coat pockets, under beds, in backpacks. Nothing.

Finally, you give up and send your little darling off to school wearing one black-and-white striped mitten and one red mitten with yellow polka dots. You try to convince her she’s making a fashion statement but she doesn’t seem to agree.

Land’s End, a leading mail-order retailer specializing in great quality clothing and outerwear has come up with an innovative idea for those lost mitten episodes.

Called “The Lost Mitten Club,” it’s a great way to keep a set of kid’s mittens complete from the day they are purchased from Land’s End through the end of the winter season.

Simply order your mittens from the 1996 Land’s End Winter Catalog. Then, at any time during the year if one of the mittens is lost, simply find the mitten’s style number in the current catalog and call (800) 356-4444.

A replacement for the missing mitten will be shipped out at half the price of the pair. Best of all, there is no shipping or handling charge for the replacement.

So, whether that mitten was buried in the snow fort or became a colorful addition to a snowman’s wardrobe, you can replace it with a single telephone call to Land’s End.

For a copy of the 1996 Land’s End Kid’s Catalog, call their toll-free number listed above, or contact them on the World Wide Web at http://www.landsend.com.

Now, if only they would offer a “Lost Sock Club.”
