‘Biker Chick’ Saddles Up For TV Show Elizabeth Dole Tells Leno To ‘Rev It Baby’

Associated Press

Elizabeth Dole donned a black leather jacket and blue jeans and told Jay Leno to “rev it baby,” during a motorcycle stunt staged Monday for her appearance on the late-night talk show.

“Jay, look at my jacket. I’m a biker from way back,” the wife of Republican presidential candidate Bob Dole said, showing off her jacket that read, “Bikers for Bob.”

“I’ve come a long way man, from Harvard Law School to biker chick,” added Dole, an attorney and two-time Cabinet member.

The host of “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” who’s known for his vast motorcycle collection, drove onto his soundstage with Dole on the back of a motorcycle after a post-monologue skit.

In the skit, Dole pretended to be stuck outside the television studio at a security gate checkpoint, and she telephoned Leno to rescue and shepherd her inside for the show.

“Yeah, rev it baby. Let’s get out of here,” Dole said as she hopped onto the motorcycle.

Television footage then showed a stand-in doing stunts on the back of the motorcycle as it rode from the gate to the television soundstage.

Dole told Leno her 73-year-old husband didn’t mind being the target of jokes about his age - even on “The Tonight Show.”

“Bob Dole has a great sense of humor. He’s got a quick wit. He doesn’t mind at all,” Dole told Leno, adding, “as long as you don’t mind … an IRS audit.”
