Woman’s Suicide Disrupts Ceremony

Compiled From Wire Services

A woman with explosives strapped to her stomach as if she were pregnant blew herself up Sunday in the middle of a military ceremony as a band played the Turkish national anthem.

Six other people died and 30 were injured said Gov. Necati Bilican, who blamed Kurdish rebels.

The attack was believed to be the first suicide bombing in the 12-year-old Kurdish war for autonomy.
