Gu Basketball Tips Off With Late-Night Fun

The Kennel will go mad Saturday, Oct. 14, when Gonzaga University’s men’s and women’s basketball teams tip off the 1995-96 basketball season with Midnight Madness, the official start of practice for collegiate basketball teams around the country.

The festivities will begin at 10:30 p.m. with plenty of fan activities. Fast track cars, bouncy boxing, a velcro wall and a laser light show will keep fans busy until the stroke of midnight when the Bulldogs men’s and women’s teams are introduced. One fan will also win a drawing for two Southwest Airlines tickets good for any Southwest Airlines destination. Fans will also have a chance to win two 1996 Pontiac Sunfire automobiles.

“This will be a fun night for the fans. Nancy Fike has done an excellent job of organizing,” Gonzaga athletic director and head men’s basketball coach Dan Fitzgerald said.

The men’s and women’s teams will be introduced at midnight and will perform drills until approximately 12:30 a.m.
