Dealy Etter Lc Year: Senior Sport: Football Position:Rb/ Db

Forced to make a hard decision, Lewis and Clark football coach John Hook put Tiger senior Dealy Etter at outside linebacker.

“I don’t know if that’s his best position,” Hook said, “but that’s where he’s most valuable to us.”

Etter recovered a fumble from his outside linebacker position Friday on the LC 1-yard line and intercepted two passes, all in the third quarter, to help the Tigers hand Gonzaga Prep its first loss of the season, 40-20.

“You are always dream about those things happening,” Etter said. “It just happens. Sometimes you’re in the right spot, and I was - three times.”

But Hook really doesn’t have to make a decision. He uses Etter as a running back and on some special teams.

Despite Etter’s defensive heroics, Prep wasn’t out of the game until Etter took a short snap on a fake punt and burst through a gaping hole untouched and raced 55 yards for the last touchdown.

Etter’s decision, with encouragement from snapper Nate Smith and Ryan Nail, the other up-back, also pushed him past 100 yards rushing for the second straight game.

“The fact that he only knows how to go 100 percent all the time is Etter’s biggest contribution to the team. His intensity and effort are the biggest keys,.” Hook said.
