Edgar Wood Jr. Overland Park, Kan.

Service for Edgar L. Wood, Jr. 83, was held Monday in Kansas. Born in Wallace, Mr. Wood died May 4 in Overland Park, where he had lived since last year.

He graduated from high school in Wallace in 1929 and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha while he attended the University of Idaho.

He worked for Hecla Mining Co., and later started the Idaho Lumber Co. He also helped start Spunstrand Inc., in Wallace.

He retired in 1980 and moved to Tigard, Ore., and then to Overland Park.

He was a member of United Church of Christ Congregational, the Elks Lodge and the Rotary Club.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Laura Wood; one son, Edgar Wood of Seattle; one daughter, Marie Voysey of Overland Park; one brother, Max Wood of Coeur d’Alene; three grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.

Robert Ladlow Priest River, Idaho

Private service was held for Robert A. Ladlow, 78, prior to cremation.

Mr. Ladlow, who died April 28 at home, was born in Globe, Ariz.

He served in the Army and the National Guard and worked, as a civilian, for more than 23 years for the Bureau of Naval Weapons. He retired in 1969.

He and his wife, Winifred, moved to the Priest River area in 1979.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years; one daughter, Sandra Horstman of Escondido, Calif.; one sister, Ruth Guyton of Clairmont, Calif.; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Thor Fladwed Coeur d’Alene

Service for Thor E. Fladwed, 79, will be at 1 p.m. today at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene with burial to follow at Forest Cemetery.

Mr. Fladwed, who died Monday, was born in Lake City, Minn.

He graduated from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn., with a degree in business. He received his law degree from LaSalle University in Chicago.

He practiced law in Montana and was an Federal Bureau of Investigation agent in Coeur d’Alene until he resigned in 1951.

He then worked for American Insurance Association and for the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department from 1973 until 1977.

He was a charter member of the Coeur d’Alene Civil Service Commission. He was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 1254, the Carnelion Masonic Lodge No. 40 and Scottish Rite and was on the board of directors of the Language Disorders clinic in Spokane and Scottish Rites Inc., of Idaho.

Mr. Fladwed enjoyed fishing.

His wife, Margaret, died in 1971.

He is survived by one daughter, Karin Sehlmeyer of Los Angeles.

Irene Humphrey Spokane

Graveside service for Irene A. Humphrey, 68, will be at 1 p.m. today at Metaline (Wash.) Cemetery. ShermanKnapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Humphrey died Saturday, two days before her birthday, in Spokane.

She was born in Ione, Wash.

She moved to Spokane in 1983, from Metaline, after her husband, Jess Humphrey, died.

She is survived by three sons, Gary Wrenn of Anchorage, Alaska; Donald Humphrey of Hickory Hills, N.C., and Richard Humphrey of Juneau, Alaska; three daughters, Helen Reed of Kalispell, Mont., Darla Humphrey of Spokane and Donna Humphrey of Hickory Hills; one sister, Helen Ryan of Kalispell; and seven grandchildren.

Nicholas Kabush Spokane

Memorial will be held for Nicholas A. Kabush, 95, Monday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Elkins Resort in Priest Lake, Idaho. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kabush, a longtime Spokane resident, died April 10.

He was born in Manchuria and immigrated to the United States in 1923.

He graduated from the University of Southern California in 1928 and worked as a set designer for Paramount Pictures until 1947, when he moved to Spokane.

He worked as an architect and retired in the late 1970s.

Mr. Kabush shared in the designing of numerous local buildings and was the contributing architect for the Russian Pavilion at Expo ‘74.

He served on the Spokane Planning and Zoning Commission.

He moved to Long Beach, Wash., in 1985 and returned to Spokane in 1992, after his wife, Lucille, died.

He was a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Elks Lodge.

He is survived by two sons, Mark Kabush of Nordman, Idaho, and Michael Kabush of Oysterville, Wash.; one brother, Boris Kabush of Brazil; one sister, Zoia Leonard of Los Angeles; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Gerald Burnes Spokane

Private service will be held for Gerald Duane Burnes, 43. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Burnes, a brick layer, died May 1. He was a lifetime Spokane resident.

Survivors include his mother, Jean Winship of Spokane; one daughter, Regina Burnes of Spokane; one son, John Landon of California; two sisters, Susan Pennell of Spokane and Cheryl Thompson of Rockford; and one brother, Timothy Winship of Mead.

Monica Oliver Oakesdale, Wash.

Memorial gathering for Monica L. Oliver, 26, will be held at noon Sunday at the home of Larry and Christina Lyle. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Oliver died Sunday from injuries she received when she was thrown from a horse and broke her neck.

She was born in Spokane and grew up in Worley, Idaho.

She had lived in Oakesdale for the last four years and worked as a driver for City Parcel Delivery. She had previously worked at Cougar Graphics Printing in Colfax, Wash.

She is survived by one son, Donald Smiley, at home; her parents, Lynn and Monta Oliver of Spirit Lake, Idaho; two sisters, Heidi Kelley of Spokane and Christina Lyle of St. John, Wash.; her grandparents, Donald and Betty Wilson of Post Falls, and Shirley Oliver of Clarkston, Wash.; and her greatgrandmother, Alice Elkins of Dayton, Wash.

Cora Larsen Milwaukie, Ore.

Memorial services for Cora Ann Larsen, 100, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Jerue Funeral Home in Cheney.

Mrs. Larsen, a former Cheney resident, died April 4 in Milwaukie, where she has lived for the last seven years.

She was born in Fremont, Neb., and was a homemaker.

Her husband, Albert Larsen, died in 1958.

She is survived by one daughter, Doris VanDewalle of Lake Oswego, Ore.; four granddaughters; 10 greatgrandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Roberta Cox Sandpoint

Service for Roberta May Cox, 75, will be at 11 a.m. today at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel in Sandpoint with burial to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Cox, who was born in Arcadia, Kan., died Sunday.

She moved to Sandpoint in 1950 with her husband, Leland Cox, and helped establish the Economy Grocery. They sold the business in 1976 and she retired.

She enjoyed bowling and bowled on the Northern Lights bowling team.

Mrs. Cox was a member of Sandpoint United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi-Zeta Chapter, the Bonner General Hospital Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star-Martha Chapter.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years; one son, James Cox of Scotland; one daughter, Linda Morton of Kettle Falls, Wash.; one brother, Maurice VanDusen of Wichita, Kan.; one sister, Katharine Kolsum of Minneapolis; five grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, one great-grandchild and one step-great-grandson.

Amelia Seibold Spokane

Memorial service for Amelia (Rexin) Seibold, 90, will be at 2 p.m. today at Millwood Community Presbyterian Church, where she was a member. Private burial will be at Pines Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Seibold, who died Sunday, was born in Sykeston, N.D. She had lived in Spokane for 53 years.

She and her husband, Walter Seibold, moved to Grand Coulee in 1937, from Saskatchewan. Her husband died in 1966.

She worked for the postal service for 25 years and retired in 1970.

She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the American Association of Retired Persons and the Ramona Rebekah Lodge.

She is survived by one daughter, Delores Sardam of Spokane; one son, Dennis Seibold of Little Elm, Texas; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Millwood Community Presbyterian Church.

Helen Dunkle Spokane

Service for Helen H. Dunkle, 81, is planned for 2 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park.

Born in Plummer, Idaho, Mrs. Dunkle died Saturday.

She was a homemaker and moved to Cheney in 1949 and to Spokane in 1959.

She was a member of Edgecliff Baptist Church.

Her husband, William Dunkle, died in 1980.

She is survived by one daughter, Delores Harvey of Spokane; one son, Robert Dunkle of Little Lake, Calif.; one sister, Edna Daniels of Spokane; 11 grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren.

Ingrid Mace Spokane

Service for Ingrid J. Mace, 66, is set for 11 a.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Born in Germany, Mrs. Mace died Sunday.

She immigrated to the United States in 1952 and to Spokane in 1961.

She had worked at the lunch and candy counter of The Crescent department store from 1969 until 1975. She worked as a nanny from 1975 until 1981.

She is survived by four sons, Patrick, Michael and Mark Mace, all of Spokane, and Stephen Mace of Deep Creek, Wash.; one sister, Marianna Buchhorn of Germany; and six grandchildren.

Daniel Bly Spokane

Graveside service for Daniel G. Bly, 24, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Pines Cemetery. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of cremation.

Born in Spokane, Mr. Bly died Monday.

He lived at Interlake School in Medical Lake for 19 years and had also received care at Sacred Heart Medical Center and Southcrest Convalescent Center.

He is survived by his mother, Joanne Barnsley of Loyal, Wis.; his father and stepmother, Jim and Teri Bly of Post Falls; two brothers, Duane Bly and Alex Barnsley, both of Greenacres; one sister, Jennifer Bly of Spokane; and his grandmother, Elaine Bly of Deer Park.

Robert Walter Odessa, Wash.

Service for Robert W. Walter, 83, is set for 2 p.m. Friday at Heritage United Church of Christ Chapel. Burial will be at Odessa Cemetery. Strate Funeral Home in Odessa is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Odessa, Mr. Walter died Saturday.

He graduated from Odessa High School and was a wheat farmer south of town. He retired in the late 1970s and moved into Odessa.

He was an organizer and member of the Odessa Riders Club.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Osa Walter; one son, Jon Walter of Bremerton; one daughter, Roberta Stehr of Spokane; two brothers, Roy Walter of Odessa and Richard Walter of Moscow, Idaho; one sister Dorothy Kissler of Spokane; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Leta Huffman Chewelah, Wash.

Memorial service for Leta Marion Huffman, 76, is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Schanzenbach Funeral Home.

Mrs. Huffman, who died Sunday, was born in Lead, S.D.

She and her first husband, Howard Bayne, moved to Chewelah in 1969. He died in 1970.

She married Clarence Huffman in 1970 and he died in 1975.

She was a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chewelah and was a member of Crossroads Community Church, the Valley Grange, the Rebekah Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two sons, James Bayne of Chewelah and Brian Bayne of Spokane; one daughter, Carol Chandler of Chewelah; one stepdaughter, Donna Walker of Chewelah; one sister, Corrine Gordon of New Castle, Colo.; 12 grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren and 20 stepgreatgrandchildren.
