Many Tours Specialize In Activities For Seniors

Travel providers have discovered a whole new breed of customers: seniors.

Some examples from around the Northwest:

Alaska Wildland Adventures, which specializes in small-group trips in Alaska, offers a Senior Safari of eight days visiting wilderness regions, including Denali National Park. Prices are around $2,500 per person; for information, call (800) 334-8730.

Mount Robson Adventure Holidays offers a Fifty-Plus Adventure that features four days in British Columbia’s Mount Robson Provincial Park, with activities that include a guided canoe trip, gentle rafting float and guided trek.

Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies is celebrating its 72nd consecutive year of riding the high country in Banff National Park.

This nonprofit association offers a variety of horseback vacations in the Rockies, with six-day tours beginning at $800 (Canadian) per person, which includes horses, teepee accommodations, meals and entertainment.

Toot, toot: A trip by private train on the historic Montana Rail Link is the centerpiece of nine-day tours from Little Bighorn, where Sioux and Cheyenne warriors defeated Custer, to Yellowstone and Glacier national parks.
