Attractive Gsl Girls’ Matchup Ends In Lopsided Shadle Park Win

GSL girls

On paper it should have been a good game. In reality, it wasn’t.

Shadle Park followed the leadership of Kelly Bartleson to destroy Ferris 64-41 Tuesday night at Ferris in a matchup of two of the top teams in the Greater Spokane League girls basketball race.

“Shadle Park is a workhorse-type team and when Kelly Bartleson decides to step up, she takes everyone with her,” Ferris coach Janet Wolkey said. “Our finesse will not beat them.”

Earlier in the season, Shadle Park won 55-38. This time, the ninthranked Highlanders (9-1, 11-3) raced to a 20-5 lead early in the third quarter before Ferris (6-4, 10-4) responded.

The Saxons hit their first two shots of the third quarter to cut the margin to eight and got the ball back. However, after Ferris missed a 3-pointer, Bartleson scored nine straight points and the rout was on. For the remained of the third quarter, Ferris missed 10 shots and had nine of its 20 turnovers, falling behind 50-26.

Bartleson finished with 19 points.,

Freshman Karie Pruett had a career-high 11 for Ferris.
