This snowshoe hare is not too happy about the abnormally warm weather on Thanksgiving Day, for good reason. I also found the fresh remains of a devoured hare. They turn white this time of year for camouflage in snow. Without snow, they stand out like beacons.

Found someone parasailing off Steptoe Butte on Nov. 18. I watched for half and hour as the person floated back and forth, up and down. Was exciting to watch but burr it was cold. Freedom

Was on Greenbluff to buy apples on Nov. 17. and spied this wonderful display at High Country Orchards. The display really spoke to me of Thanksgiving.

I went to Steptoe Butte on Nov. 18 to look for birds but was surprised by someone took advantage of the winds and went parasailing over the butte. I was cold but I can imagine that the person under the parachute was much colder for sure. Floating Free

A bald eagle snatches a spawning kokanee from the Wolf Lodge Bay area of Lake Coeur d'Alene. A total of 37 eagles was counted by BLM at Wolf Lodge Bay on Nov. 16. Last year the number peaked at about 260 by mid-December.

Tundra swans were frolicking (scuffling?) at Slavin Conservation Area on Sunday. There were at least 100 swans there, most of them tundras, but I did see a pair of trumpeter swans.

I've seen a lot of Canada Geese in one place at one time, but never as many as were on the Spokane River between Barker and Harvard today, Nov. 14, a perfect day for a fall walk on the Centennial Trail.
