Getting There

Clean fuel standards need public input

On Feb. 23, the Washington state Depart is holding a public meeting starting with an open house at 5:30 p.m. at the Spokane Community College Lair to be followed by a discussion of clean fuel standards.
Under a 2008 law, the state is about to join California, Oregon and British Columbia in taking action to limit greenhouse gas emissions.
The goal is to cut greenhouse gas emissions to the levels of 1990 by the year 2020 and then go below that level by 25 percent in 2035 and by 50 percent in 2050.
