WSU coaches know the peril of FCS schools

COUGARS

We have our story on Washington State's home opener vs. Montana State for tomorrow's S-R available for you, along with a couple notes. Go ahead and read on.
••••••••••

• We delve into the ups and downs of playing schools not in your NCAA subdivision in our story for Saturday's paper. We also will look at the keys to victory for Washington State, but we will pass those on in the morning, along with our usual links. ... We can let you know the Cougars got through their walk-through this afternoon without any problems. ... It doesn't look as if Mike Ledgerwood will play, but everyone else that isn't out for the season should be available. Hallston Higgins will start. ... The captains for tomorrow are receiver Daniel Blackledge, linebacker Myron Beck and long snapper Zach Enyeart. ... Cougfan has some news for those of you who are going to attend the game. The crowd is expected to be more than 20,000. I did a little research and the smallest home opening crowd in Pullman I could find in the past 25 years is the 17,000 who saw UNLV in 1986. Only another Montana State game (19,063 in 1993) was less than 20,000. ... The Seattle Times has a preview that includes the Seattle area television broadcasts.

• That's all for tonight. We'll be back in the morning. Until then ...
