Spokane Valley

Not in my Painted Hills

At its Sept. 22 meeting, the Spokane Valley City Council asked staff to put together an informational session on the Painted Hills development. Council member Ed Pace said he's heard from several Valley residents who's got questions and concerns about the proposed development and he'd like for the council to get more information about it.
Instead of more than 500 homes being built on the defunct golf course, neighbors want the city to purchase the land and turn it into a park. The city did contemplate a purchase back in 2013, but city council member Ben Wick said the city was asked by a group of neighbors to stay out of it, as the group wanted to purchase the land. In the meantime, the property was picked up by Dave Black of Black Realty Inc. for $1.1 million.
