Helicopter rescues horse stranded in snow above McCall
OUTTHERE -- A helicopter today has rescued at least one of the two horses that have been stranded in deep snow at elevations up to 8,000 feet near McCall, Idaho.
According to the Valley County Sheriff's Office, snowmobilers were able to reach one of the horses and tranquilize it belly-deep in snow so a helicopter could be brought in to fly it out dangling on a long tether (see video).
The other horse, the white one, apparently had been noted days ago to have a wound. That horse had not been located by early afternoon, officials said in this release:
THE BROWN HORSE HAS BEEN RESCUED, IS SAFE AND IN THE HANDS OF Idaho Horse Rescue! We will have further information coming soon, but we are being told by Idaho Horse Rescue that it would not of happened without the help of some of our local heroes; Ryan Miller and Pat Morell and many many others that we do not have names for yet, but we will soon..... We will update you all very soon!!!!!!! Unfortunately, there is no sign of the white horse, but we will also give more information later this afternoon!!!
