WILDLIFE -- Two rewards totaling $10,000 have been offered for information on the killing of a federally protected grizzly bear in North Idaho.

In October 2015, a radio-collared grizzly bear was found dead in the Grouse Creek drainage of Bonner County.  Grizzlies are listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. Killing a grizzly is a federal offense unless the shooting is in self-defense.

The incident was investigated by the Idaho Fish and Game Department and the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The federal agency is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. The Humane Society of the United States and the Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust are offering an additional $5,000 for information leading to a conviction.

Call in information on this case to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, (509) 370-0112, or Idaho Fish and Game Department, (208) 267-4085.  Callers may remain anonymous.
