CONSERVATION -- The Inland Northwest Land Trust will present a program on area land conservation programs during the Spokane Falls Chapter of Trout Unlimited meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the Longhorn BBQ, 2315 N. Argonne Road, Spokane Valley, in the upstairs meeting room.

Socializing starts at 5:30 and with a presentation starting at 7 p.m.

Nationally, TU has teamed up with local land trusts to identify and protect key trout habitat, as well as to restore waterways and connect people with nature, said Bill Abrahamse, president of the Spokane Falls chapter. "Locally, INLT is eager to team up with the Spokane Falls Chapter to do that too. Since 1991 INLT has helped protect 15,000 acres of wildlife habitat, including 36 miles of lake and river shoreline."

INLT works with willing private landowners to protect wildlife habitat, working farms and forests. It protects that land in several ways, often in tandem with partners like TU. Trout Unlimited and INLT both have programs underway to improve water quality in the Hangman Creek watershed.
