Reader: Is Albertsons in decline?

A reader wonders:

Can you inquire of your readers about their experience at the (Coeur d'Alene) Albertsons?  I have shopped there for 24 years and am saddened to see it so decline.  Yesterday the line was 12 deep with one checker and another one managing self checkout.   This was at 5 pm.  Many visitors to cda come to this store as they are staying downtown and it is closest.  What sort of impression do they get of our town?

I know many of us continue to go there because of the people who work there like Patty the singing checker, Holly who has been there since she was a bagger Lori who seems to know everyone, and Darcy who stocks the meat area.   It certainly isn't the cheapest store or the nicest in esthetics but it is the people who bring us in.  It is very sad to see them work so hard without proper support.  I am curious if anyone else in town has noticed the decline.

Anyone?
