Smylie: I Like Wayne Hoffman, But …

Steve Smylie (RE: Hoffman: I don't trust Luke Malek): I first met Wayne when he was a reporter for the Idaho Press Tribune. I liked him, I liked him a lot. He was the best fly on the wall in legislative committee hearings I ever saw. He could make himself almost invisible and managed to overhear many "confidential" conversations as a result. More often than not, that information ended up in the paper. As Tom Luna's campaign press secretary, he attended State Board of Education and Education Committee meetings, representing the Department of Agriculture (as their paid staff member), no doubt. When asked what he was up to, he replied, "Oh, nothing to worry about." Now as the representative of a 501 c 3 tax exempt charitable "educational" foundation he is up to his elbows in political scheming, complaining about, of course, the misdeeds of others. After all, his job is now tax exempt "educational" work, not filthy politics. I have no ill will toward Hoffman. I still like the guy. I just don't trust him.
