Idaho Trooper shoots, kills driver on I-90
An Idaho State Police trooper shot and killed a motorist around noon today along Interstate 90 at Lookout Pass, just west of the Idaho-Montana state line. T
he trooper, whose name has not been released, was not injured in the confrontation, said Lt. Stuart Miller of the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, which is taking the lead in the investigation of the shooting. Few details of the shooting are available.
The trooper engaged the person and radioed “shots fired” and “driver down,” Miller said. The trooper also reported Code 4, meaning the trooper was not hurt. The person shot was taken to Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg and declared dead there, Miller said. The shooting happened at milepost 72.8, which is close to the Lookout Pass Ski Area, in the eastbound lanes of the interstate. Scott Maben, SR
