St. Patricks Limerick Contest Begins
If you’re passionate about poetry, ridiculous about rhyming, and love limericks, then Spokane7.com has just the contest for you! We’re reviving the annual St. Patrick’s Day Limericks Contest that ran for years in The Spokesman-Review but with some new fun twists. As always, we have a few ground rules.
- All entries must follow standard limerick form (five lines of anapestic meter, AABBA rhyme scheme).
Example (from limerick maestro Edward Lear):
There was an Old Man with a beard,
Who said, “It is just as I feared!
Two Owls and a Hen,
Four Larks and a Wren,
Have all built their nests in my beard!”
Question: Are you good at writing limericks? How about trying your hand at one involving a Huckleberries Online theme, in view of the blog's 9th anniversary Feb. 16?
