Correction: Survivalist Rally Story

In a story July 28 about a self-reliance rally in northern Idaho, The Associated Press reported erroneously that Dale Pearce was a former legislator who favored amending the U.S. Constitution. Pearce once lobbied the Idaho Legislature against joining an effort to amend the Constitution. You can read a corrected version of the story here. Also, the Lewiston Tribune published an editorial that was based on the erroneous fact in the Associated Press story. The Tribune noted discrepancies between the original Coeur d'Alene Press story and the Associated Press one in this statement: "'Liberty once lost is lost forever,' said Pearce, who may have been on both sides of the issue. The Associated Press says Pearce backed a constitutional convention; the Coeur d'Alene Press had a different view." The editorial was republished on Huckleberries Online. It has since been removed.
