Duroc: Vandals Not Worth Ticket Price

Idaho quarterback Brian Reader (14) throws a pass while offensive lineman Matt Cleveland (70) blocks defensive lineman Ikemefuna "IK" Enemkpali (41) during the second half of an NCAA college football game against Louisiana Tech Saturday in Moscow. Duroc: Instead of “throwing the V,” we need to throw Brian Reader out of the quarterback position. How could the second-string guy possibly be any worse? If he is, dear god, we’re in trouble! I think Akey is a great coach, but he’s got to do something with the offensive line. The only players on the offense who are doing a damned thing are the kickers (Farquar and Cowan), and they are both very talented kids. Maybe because they spend more time on the field than the receivers? Grr. That game yesterday wasn’t just bad. It was infuriating. I’ve never heard a Vandal crowd like that before. They were with the team the first three quarters. It was Homecoming, and people were excited! But by the fourth quarter, people were starting to scream at Akey to pull Reader out of the game. I’ve never witnessed such a thing. It wasn’t pretty, but it was understandable. It’s hard to watch a team fall apart like that. (Dean Hare AP photo: UI running back Princeton McCarty)

  • Josh Wright/SR, via Twitter 8 minutes ago: "Robb Akey says Brian Reader is "absolutely" Idaho's starting QB. But ... "The completion percentage is awful and it has been for 2 weeks."
  • Frustration builds at Idaho with another loss/Jared Frank, KHQ

Question: What do you make of the collapse of the UI Vandals this year? Is QB Brian Reader to blame?
