WSU regents embrace naming new medical school in honor of Elson Floyd
Washington State University's new medical school almost certainly will be named in honor of former President Elson Floyd but the Board of Regents wants to make sure all protocols are followed before making it official.
The regents declared during a special meeting today that it's their intent to name the medical school after Floyd, who died last month of colon cancer after pushing the Washington Legislature for the authority to establish it in Spokane.
The board, however, directed interim President Daniel Bernardo to develop recommendations for how to proceed with the plan.
