Senate Judiciary approves Bart Davis nomination for Idaho U.S. Attorney, sends to floor

The nomination of Bart Davis to be Idaho’s new U.S. Attorney cleared the Senate Judiciary Committee this morning on a voice vote; Davis was among a half-dozen U.S. Attorney nominees to clear the committee at its meeting this morning. None of the nominees appeared before the committee for questioning; it was an executive business meeting, so no one but the members spoke.

Robert Sumner, press secretary for Sen. Mike Crapo, said, “It’s been sent to the floor, but no schedule has been announced.”

Idaho’s last U.S. Attorney, Wendy Olson, an Obama appointee, stepped down in February to make way for a Trump appointee. Davis, 62, the Idaho Senate’s majority leader and an Idaho Falls attorney, was nominated by President Trump on June 29, with strong support from Idaho Sens. Crapo and Jim Risch.
