New candidates filing for House include challengers to McMillan, Cheatham; two vying for DeMordaunt seat

Among new candidates filing for the Legislature so far today is Priscilla Giddings of White Bird, one of the nation’s few female fighter pilots qualified to fly the A-10, a U.S. Air Force Academy graduate who’s been a competitive weightlifter, marathoner and triathlete, and the daughter of Idaho County Sheriff Doug Giddings. She is running against Rep. Shannon McMillan, R-Silverton, in the GOP primary for House Seat A in District 7; McMillan, who is in her third term, has filed to run for re-election.

Also, two Republicans have filed for House Seat B in District 14, which is being vacated by third-term Rep. Reed DeMordaunt, R-Eagle: Gayann DeMordaunt of Eagle, who is married to Reed DeMordaunt; and Douglas R. Jones of Meridian, who served in the House from 1985 to 2006 as a GOP representative from Filer and chaired the House Agriculture Committee.

And Rep.Don Cheatham, R-Post Falls, has picked up a Republican primary challenger: Peter Riggs of Coeur d’Alene, brother of former state senator and Lt. Gov. Jack Riggs. You can see the full list online here; the Secretary of State’s office is updating it periodically.
