Top 25 Capsules: Devonte Graham scored a career-high 35 points and second-ranked Kansas ran roughshod over Toledo

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) – Devonte Graham scored a career-high 35 points, Malik Newman added 17 and second-ranked Kansas ran roughshod over Toledo 96-58 on Tuesday night to extend the Jayhawks’ best start in seven years.
Svi Mykhailiuk hit five 3-pointers and added 15 points for Kansas (6-0), which built a 59-30 lead by halftime and pushed the advantage to more than 50 points before coasting down the stretch.
The Jayhawks were 12 of 20 from beyond the arc and shot 59 percent from the field, though emptying the bench early kept them from hitting the 100-point mark for the third consecutive game. They also forced 20 turnovers by a Toledo team that had committed 25 total over its last three games.
Tre’Shaun Fletcher and Nate Navigato scored 12 points apiece to lead the Rockets (3-3), who have lost three straight overall and 12 straight against ranked teams.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) – Samajae Haynes-Jones scored a season-high 31 points to lead Wichita State.
Five other Shockers (5-1) scored in double figures against the fast-paced Tigers (2-6). Leading scorer Landry Shamet did not play in the second half after re-injuring his right ankle.
Darral Willis had 14 points and 12 rebounds for Wichita State, while Rashard Kelly had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Austin Reaves scored 12 for the Shockers, and Conner Frankamp and Rauno Nurger added 10 each.
Savannah State was led by Alante Fenner’s 18 points.

CINCINNATI (AP) – J.P. Macura scored 15 of his 19 points in the first half as Xavier surged ahead to stay.
The Musketeers (6-1) recovered from their first loss – against Arizona State – by controlling the boards and putting together decisive runs in each half. They never trailed after an opening 21-8 spurt.
Kaiser Gates also had 19 points for Xavier, including a 3-pointer that blunted the Bears’ final comeback attempt.
Terry Maston had 15 points for Baylor (5-1), which fell behind by 14 in the second half.

Purdue 66, No. 17 Louisville 57
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) – Vince Edwards scored 15 points and Carsen Edwards and Dakota Mathias spurred a late run to lead Purdue in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
The Boilermakers (6-2) beat their second straight ranked opponent – and won for the first time since their 41-week streak in the Top 25 ended. Carsen Edwards and Mathias both finished with 13 points.
Louisville (4-1) was led by V.J. King with 17 points and Deng Adel with 13. It’s the second time in eight years the Cardinals have lost their first road game of the season.
