CMR’s silence isn’t golden

Our nation is in crisis. In the last 10 days alone, the president has, without precedent, removed the FBI director from office, the same man investigating White House ties to Russian agents; he has revealed top-secret intelligence of our foreign allies to known Russian spy, Sergey Kislyak; and the president admitted to the press that he intentionally obstructed his own investigation. These actions do not indicate the character required for most powerful office in the world. They resemble a child: short-sighted, in restrained, and desperate for adulation.

As the fourth-ranking member of the House GOP, our representative, Cathy McMorris Rodgers has the ability to end this madness. Instead, she and her colleagues seemingly prefer to ignore this crisis and the declining public trust, all so they may pass partisan legislation, repeal the AC, and enact further tax breaks for the rich.

The citizens of Spokane deserve better. We deserve a representative that stands up for the integrity of our government institutions. We deserve a representative that values security of our nation and its allies. And we deserve a representative that does not hide from her justifiably terrified constituents.

I, for one, think it’s time for a change.
