Pullman rides Mike Peterson’s no-hitter to victory

Mike Peterson fired a five-inning no-hitter and the Pullman Greyhounds (6-8) breezed to a 10-0 victory over the visiting East Valley Knights (4-12) in a District 7 2A baseball matchup in Pullman on Monday.

Jake Cillay and Spencer Walker both had multiple hits on the day with Walker and Zane Wilson driving in two runs apiece.

Parker Hubert pitched a complete game for the Colfax Bulldogs to help his team to an 8-3 victory over the Asotin Panthers in the District 7 2B championship bagame at Medical Lake.

With the victory, Colfax earns the number one seed into the regional tournament that begins Saturday.

Colfax advanced to the final by ousting Kettle Falls 11-1 earlier in the day. Asotin knocked off Northwest Christian on its way to the championship game.

Prep softball

Mead used a five-run first inning to catapult the Panthers to a 7-3 victory over the visiting Gonzaga Prep Bullpups in a 4A loser-out play-in game.

Mikaylie King had three hits and Ciara Harding added two more to spark the Panthers, who advance to play Walla Walla on Tuesday.

Julianne Young had a pair of triples for the Bullpups, who were eliminated from postseason play.

The Greater Spokane League concluded play earlier in the day with Central Valley blanking G-Prep 5-0. Also, Shadle Park shut out Mead 4-0, University drilled Rogers 11-0, Mt. Spokane walloped Ferris 20-0 and Lewis and Clark defeated North Central 12-1.

In Idaho 3A District 1 play at Timberlake, Maddy Salois smacked a two-run home run in the first inning to propel the Timberlake Tigers to a 15-5 five-inning win over the Kellogg Wildcats.
