Poster show proceeds to benefit Songs for Kids nonprofit
Bartfest is about more than music. It’s about art as well.
Since the venue opened last year, The Bartlett has become known not only for the quality of its musical lineup, but for the cool poster art created for the shows. With the inaugural Bartfest set to take sail this weekend, it seems only natural that some of those fabulous band posters are included in the fun.
So tonight, 33 posters created by Spokane and Coeur d’Alene artists will go on display at The Bartlett. Karli Ingersoll, a singer-songwriter and graphic designer who owns the club with her husband, Caleb, said her dreams for a music festival have always included an art show component.
She sent the artists music for the bands they were designing for with the idea that the artists could let their imaginations go wild. Ingersoll was blown away by the work.
“They’re amazing,” she said. “I was so impressed. Spokane obviously has a ton of talent.”
The artists did the work for free, and proceeds from the sale of limited edition prints (at $10 a pop) will go to a new Spokane chapter of Songs for Kids, a nonprofit that brings in musicians to perform for children in hospitals or special-needs camps.
