Driver sought in fatal hit-and-run in Spokane Valley
A 47-year-old bicycle rider was killed early Tuesday in a hit-and-run crash in Spokane Valley.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner identified the man killed as Robert R. Royer on Tuesday afternoon. Royer died as a result of head trauma, according to the results of an autopsy.
Royer was riding north over the Interstate 90 overpass at Park Road around 1:30 a.m. when he was hit by a car and killed, Spokane County Sheriff Cpl. Brett Hubbell said.
Detectives from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office are investigating, said Hubbell. No information has been officially released identifying a suspect vehicle.
The death was ruled a traffic-related accident, according to the medical examiner. That finding does not prevent criminal charges from being filed.
