Set a civility standard

OK, Spokane City Councilman Mike Fagan and House Speaker John Boehner: You are elected to lead, and lead by example. Both of you have recently used “unfit” language in public comments.

As a retired educator, this is appalling. No wonder we see and experience disrespect from our youth when behavior such as yours is exhibited. Please set a higher standard for yourselves as you definitely need to be better role models.

Maybe personally experiencing some “Rachel’s Challenge” presentations would be of benefit to you. Hopefully, you then would become more aware of using traits such as kindness, gentleness and sensitivity when dealing with issues.
