Scheduled The driver in a 2009 crash that injured U.S. national soccer team forward Charlie Davies and killed a female passenger is scheduled to plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter and drunken driving. A plea hearing is set for Tuesday in federal court in Alexandria, Va., for Maria A. Espinoza. Davies sustained two broken bones in his right leg, elbow and face and a lacerated bladder. The other passenger, 22-year-old Ashley J. Roberta, was killed.

Required Golden State Warriors forward David Lee needs surgery after an infection developed in a cut on his left elbow. Lee has flown home to Oakland, Calif., from the Warriors’ road trip to undergo surgery immediately. The former All-Star forward cut the inside of his left elbow in a nasty collision Wednesday with New York’s Wilson Chandler, who lost teeth on the play and left a fragment of a tooth in Lee’s arm.

Approved The NBA’s board of governors unanimously approved the sale of the Golden State Warriors to a group led by Joe Lacob and movie producer Peter Guber. The long-expected announcement allowed the Warriors’ new owners to assume formal control of the franchise long owned by Chris Cohan.

Signed Kevin Harvick Inc. signed Ron Hornaday to a multiyear extension to drive in the NASCAR Trucks Series. The 52-year-old driver will return to the No. 33 Chevrolet next season. Sponsorship agreements have not yet been announced.

Fired The New York Mets fired a longtime clubhouse manager amid a police investigation into illegal gambling. The Mets fired Charlie Samuels for violating team policies. The club said the decision came after an internal investigation that lasted several months. A person familiar with the probe by law enforcement told the Associated Press last week that Samuels admitted to an investigator for Major League Baseball that he bet on baseball.

Added Midfielders Lindsay Tarpley, Leslie Osborne and Tina DiMartino have been added to the U.S. roster for the Women’s World Cup qualifying playoff against Italy. Backup goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris was also added to the 24-woman roster. Eighteen players can dress for each soccer game in the playoff, which will determine the final berth in the 16-team tournament next year in Germany.
